For sale is a series of (12) Lynchburg and Durham Railroad Company $25.00 Bond Coupons dated 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893 for Bond 600 and Bond 601. Also included is the First Mortgage Booklet, dated Jan. 1st, 1890 of the indenture between the Lynchburg and Durham Railroad Company and The Mercantile Trust Company. Whereas; The Lynchburg, Halifax and North Carolina Railroad Company to consolidate and form one company with the Roxboro Railroad Company and the Durham and Roxboro Railroad Company under the name; "The Lynchburg and Durham Railroad Company". Acknowledgments made herein for all Railroad Companies involved to construct a line of railroads as set forth in this agreements.
The (12) $25.00 Bond Coupons are attached in a series of 6 and measure approx. 1 1/4' X 3" each. A detailed etching of that era steam train is on the left side of each coupon. Each appears to have a "punch-hole" type of cancellation. The following information is listed on the front of each bond: "On The First Day of... (date listed) The Lynchburg and Durham Railroad Company will pay to bearer, at its office or agency in Philadelphia or New York, TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS in gold coin, being Six Months' interest on its first Mortgage. The First Mortgage Booklet contains very detailed information about this consolidation, listing legal requirements on the part of all parties. It also includes requirements and restrictions for the issuing of these bonds. Booklet contains 40 pages and is in very good condition with binding intact.
