A long and detailed NAVY Continuous Service Certificate belonging to ISAAC DABNEY TINSLEY. There are 4 full pages, front and back of entries starting on July 18, 1935, till his discharge on March 12, 1946. He was assigned to the USS Alden (DD-211) a Clemson-class destroyer. Then on to the USS St. Louis in 1939, USS S-24 in 1940, USS Chewink in 1944 and later to the USS Pelias (AS-14) Griffin-class submarine tender in 1945. This submarine earlier was actively docked at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941, where her crew helped shoot down an enemy torpedo bomber. Tinsley was Honorably Discharged in 1946 following the end of WWII. This certificate is located about 7 miles south of the Lynchburg, Va. Airport just off of Rt. 29s. Four3four.6six0.six6five6.
