Bought in the 80’s at the then-craft shop in Colonial Williamsburg. Smaller mugs are used in taverns such as Kings Arms. These mugs are stamped with the Colonial Williamsburg seal.
Both mugs are in very good condition, there are no cracks. An indispensable part of tavern life, stoneware mugs with co were common vessels for beer and ale in the 18th century. This design was inspired by a salt-glazed stoneware tankard excavated at the Anthony Hay House site in Colonial Williamsburg.
